Maija Isola laid the foundation for Marimekko as a print house. When Armi Ratia banned flower patterns at Marimekko, Isola rebelled and painted a complete collection of graphic, pop-art-inspired floral fabrics. Among them was Unikko, which has been continously printed since its launch.
