Over the past year, we've been on a journey to better understand how nature can be our greatest ally in addressing climate change. Through our partnership with Kiss the Ground, we've learned that the key to a healthier planet lies beneath our feet – with healthy soil.
As a fashion brand, we recognize the critical role of regenerative agriculture in mitigating the wellness, water, and climate crises by making it a core part of our conversation around sustainability. By making bold decisions, prioritizing soil health, and using our platform to tell these stories, we aim to drive meaningful change, starting with the way we create.
To elevate this conversation, we sat down with Evan Harrison, CEO of Kiss the Ground, to explore the transformative power of regenerative agriculture, and how it can help heal the planet and reshape the fashion industry for the better.

Earth Month 2025:
CULTIVATING CHANGE
through regenerative agriculture
The Facts:
For 10+ years, Stories of Regeneration has amplified the voices of farmers, ranchers, Indigenous communities, and stewards of the earth to inspire connection and awareness around regenerative practices.
Regenerative Agriculture Essentials is a 90-minute, on-demand educational resource designed for teams and individuals to better understand, embrace, and inspire others to join the regenerative conversation.
$500K in direct-to-farmer grants in 2025 will equip 215 farms with essential education, equipment, and infrastructure to help regenerate 73,000 acres of U.S. farmland.
What makes regenerative agriculture stand out from traditional methods, and how does it make a real impact?
In simplest terms, most farming in the U.S. focuses on one singular crop, which the government supports with subsidies and insurance; This approach requires chemicals and other disruptive practices that degrade the soil. Regenerative agriculture, on the other hand, is an ecosystem-based approach to enhancing soil health with multiple crops and animal integration – it's about working with nature as much as possible.
What are the long-term benefits of investing in soil regeneration practices for the environment and human health?
Our immediate focus is on achieving the 'tipping point' over the course of the next five years – gauged by increased awareness and a threefold expansion in land transitioning to regenerative practices. This is a critical moment, and the momentum is with us.
Successfully reaching the tipping point will pave the way for a future where the environment is back in balance. Picture a scenario where we cultivate nutrient-packed crops with significantly less exposure to nasty chemicals, breathe fresh air, and enjoy healthier water sources.

Can you explain how regenerative farming practices can create a positive impact?
Many of us have learned about the importance of ‘gut health’ over the last several years, yet it is not as widely known that soil health has a direct correlation to both human and planetary health.
Regenerative agriculture is a holistic approach to farming that relies on a complete ecosystem, working in harmony with nature to create healthy soil. In contrast, conventional farming often leaves fields uncovered between harvests and includes chemical use, which adversely affects the health of the soil – degraded soil releases carbon into the air, whereas soil that is covered with crops ‘draws down’ carbon, which adds nutrients to the soil.
A regenerative approach to growing cotton includes staying away from harmful chemicals and sprays, rotating through multiple crops that cover and protect the soil, and integrating animals that graze the land – all of which bring beneficial insects and microorganisms to help the soil thrive.
Anthropologie’s regenerative cotton collection not only supports these practices but more importantly, raises consumer awareness about sourcing and farming practices that align with a regenerative mindset.

How is Anthropologie helping advance Kiss the Ground’s mission?
Anthropologie is helping advance our mission in a material way, first and foremost, by donating to Kiss the Ground. For every $100 donated to our organization, we help inspire and catalyze the transition of 10 acres of farmland to regenerative practices with our storytelling, education, and partnership programs.
Secondarily, as a leading fashion brand with meaningful trust and reach, Anthropologie is helping us raise awareness of regenerative agriculture as a viable solution for our wellness, water, and climate crisis. They do this at the store level, and throughout the industry and supply chain, by creating and supporting certified regenerative cotton products and communicating through all their channels, inclusive of industry gatherings.
The long-term goal of this partnership is to make supporting and sourcing regeneration mainstream – to get the regenerative movement to the 'tipping point.'
For Kiss the Ground, this partnership represents hope. Speaking with the various teams and departments at Anthropologie and Terrain reinvigorates our work, as we see and feel the deep care and sense of purpose. Anthropologie approaches our work together as a true leader in the fashion industry, with an understanding that this is a journey we are all on together. It is not about a “claim” of perfection, but rather a continuous workstream to learn, evolve, and improve.

What role do you see regenerative agriculture playing in the future of the fashion industry?
Regenerative agriculture will be the much-needed catalyst for change – as ongoing discussions about conscious fashion evolve, I believe a growing number of people will grasp the indispensable role of regenerative agriculture and broad regeneration practices in ensuring the industry's long-term sustainability.
I envision genuinely authentic brands and influencers, prioritizing ethical practices and gaining strength. With consumers increasingly scrutinizing labels and doing their homework, these leaders are set to shine in a fashion landscape that embraces sustainability and regenerative principles.

What are some actionable ways individuals can support soil regeneration efforts?
Individuals can actively support soil regeneration by adopting more conscious consumption habits, promoting regeneration, and advocating for regenerative practices. Additionally, individuals can help financially support organizations like Kiss the Ground, because this is what we do every day.
At Anthropologie, we're inspired by nature's beauty and wisdom and committed to bettering – and better serving – our planet. We hope you'll join us this Earth Month, and every month, as we seek to learn more, do more, and grow more.
