Words by Leanne Mascoll Wheaton

There’s no disputing the role that seating plays in crafting the perfect living space. The sofa at the centre of the living room, the pillowy armchair surrounded by books in the reading nook, the perfect-height dining chairs tucked under the dining table – they’re all pivotal to the easy living we crave within the walls we call ‘home’.

At Anthropologie, we consider ourselves experts in the art of sitting. The aim of the sofas and chairs we design has always been simple: to fuse inventive silhouettes with hardworking fabrics and intentionally comfy finishes.

This season our range of seating options is more versatile than ever. Lustrous velvet meets corner shapes, vibrant hues meet nifty two-seaters and and extra-deep down-filled cushions soften sculptural shapes.

Here, we round up the pros of our newest designs. All you have to do is pick your favourite.

The Duo

As beautiful as they are, traditional rattan sofas aren’t always the comfiest prospect. We took some liberties with this one, pairing wrap-around caning with plumper cushions to make the Heatherfield Two-Cushion Sofa suitably sinkable.

In the Frame

Our Monroe Chair, balanced on wishbone legs, retains all of the sculptural appeal of its mid-century modern origins. We’ve simply added a sloping barrel back and slub velvet upholstery to make it a more relaxing place to perch.

A Natural Nook

Study the Kershaw Chair and you’ll find a story of opposites. An exposed solid-oak frame and turned arms and legs contrast against extra-deep back, seat and arm cushions for supportive reclining.

Stay A While

The Mirren Sectional – a new addition to our Made to Order Collection – was designed with one thing in mind: lounging. Available in velvet, linen and an array of rich shades, its profile sits intentionally lower than most corner sofas, making it easy for the whole family to cosy up on.
