Made in Portugal:
Our New Handbag Collection
Come with us to Northern Portugal β a blissful haven of blue skies, terracotta rooftops, bustling coastlines, and home to one of Europeβs burgeoning craft regions. Weβre here to visit Daros Malas, the master craftsmen behind our debut premium handbag collection.
The concept behind the collection was simple β seasonless style, unrivalled craftsmanship, lifelong quality and fair pricing for all. The decision to partner with Daros to make this a reality ended up being simple too. it was made as soon as Caroline Thruston, our Senior Accessories Buyer, walked onto their production floor.
ββBefore we started designing, it was important for us to visit the family and craftsman behind Daros. Seeing the authentic process up close was so exciting. It sparked the start of what I already know will be a long and beautiful partnership β a love story to craftsmanship,β Caroline explains.
Darosβ story began in 1972, when co-founder Celeste Oliveira Soares began crafting leather handbags at home as a hobby β friends and neighbours soon started placing orders for her designs. With growing demand for her new-found skill, Celesteβs husband David left his job to help sell her designs. Fast forward a few years, and they decided to turn their attention solely to helping others bring their designs to life. With that, a flourishing business was born.
