FURNITURE FIT GUIDE

an essential how-to for measuring and more
MAKE AN ENTRANCE

MAKE AN ENTRANCE

Complete a walk-through of the path you’ll take from the delivery van into your home, accounting for patios, gardens, entrances, apartment receptions and the street. Measure any fixed widths (such as steps) that may give you trouble.

KNOCK-KNOCK

Measure the height and width of any doorways and hallways in your path. Consider your options, including side doors and garages. Account for handrails, doorknobs, trims and hinges that can’t be removed. Measure the clearance from the door to the nearest wall or immovable object. If necessary, remove the interior doors before delivery.

GOING UP?

If you will be using an elevator, measure the height and depth of the elevator door as well as the interior height, width and depth. Determine how much wiggle room you’ll have to work with by measuring diagonally from the bottom centre of the door to the back ceiling. Account for handrails and lights that cannot be removed.

making moves

MAKING MOVES

Note any objects that might get in the way on delivery day: light and ceiling fixtures, wall art, rugs, plants and other décor. Account for stationary objects like fire sprinklers, angled or low ceilings and handrails. Find alternative pathways if necessary

COMPARE YOUR MEASUREMENTS

COMPARE YOUR MEASUREMENTS

Once you’ve collected detailed measurements throughout your home, compare them to the dimensions of the furniture you’ve selected (found in the details section of each product page). The width and height of your new furniture should be less than the width and height of doorways, hallways and stairways in your home. To determine whether your new furniture will fit in your room of choice, we also recommend creating an outline of the furniture dimensions on your floor using painter’s tape. Be mindful of access to outlets, light switches, vents and entryways. Please consider the size and scale in comparison to your current furniture.

DELIVERY DAY

DELIVERY DAY

Before your new furniture arrives, we kindly suggest:
1) Removing furniture that is being replaced, as our delivery team is unable to assist in moving existing furniture.
2) Clearing a path and protecting anything that may be susceptible to damage such as floors, furniture, décor or entryways.
3) Moving pets to a separate room to keep them safe.
