The tips and tricks to spooky styling feat. Bloom & Wild

By Holly Hartzenberg

From pumpkins and brightly-coloured gourds, to red rose hip and blooming chrysanthemums, our October hedgerows, woodlands and fields are bursting with natural beauty, ready to bring interiors to life.

As an antidote to the fake cobwebs, plastic bats and ghost balloons of spooky season, we’ve performed a little witchcraft of our own and created a Halloween hosting guide, full of seasonal foliage and table styling tricks.

Fill Your Vase with Flowers

Embrace the warm-hued loveliness of the traditional Halloween pumpkin, without carving a single spooky face. Rounded vases make spectacularly pretty autumnal vessels, overflowing with seasonal flora.

Forage for Seasonal Flavours

From sloe gin steeped with berries, to mulled wine infused with spice, this time of year abounds with delicious cocktail ingredients and moody charcoal-tinted glassware is the perfect backdrop for such autumnal potions.

Mix Earthy & Magical Shades

An All Hallows colour palette of rich, midnight blues accented with earthy russets and golds is perfect for elegant October table settings. Pair gold cutlery with charcoal crockery and silky midnight blue tableware for a sophisticated twist on the witching hour. Don’t forget the candles.

Serving finger food is an easy hosting option, which can be styled to look really ravishing. Concoct a menu of seasonal treats, then set your table to look gorgeously abundant and decadent. Serve surrounded by ornamental mini squash, a mass of winding candles, and seasonal flowers in mixed metallic vases.
