What to Pack: Summer City Breaks

What’s your city break of choice? Whether you’re off to New York, Barcelona or Paris this summer, the packing essentials are the same. You want colours that complement, silhouettes that flatter and styles that work between sunrise and sunset.

No stranger to a spontaneous city break, the (super stylish) Supal, editor of lifestyle blog Chevrons & Eclairs is a pro at packing light and packing right. Here she shares her top tips and favourite pics from her long weekend in NYC.

“When packing for a long weekend, I pack light because I love to bring back souvenirs and presents for friends. For my trip to NYC, I had early morning coffee and late night drinks planned so I packed holiday essentials that I can mix and match with one another.”

Destination 1: Central Park

“It was my birthday and my first full day in New York City and the weather was incredibly warm, so I decided to head to the park wearing a lightweight off-the-shoulder top and loosely-tailored shorts.”

“The outfit was perfect for the warm weather and my heart skips a beat when I see anything with statement sleeves.”

Destination 2: The Met

“I always pack a jumpsuit as they can be dressed down for the day or up for an evening. For date night at the Met, a simple black piece like this is perfect as it acts as a blank canvas that can be worn with a casual denim jacket or upgraded with gold jewels like these triple hoop earrings.”

Destination 3: Dumbo, Brooklyn

summer packing“I started my morning in Dumbo with a meeting followed by a stroll along the Brooklyn Bridge so I wanted to wear something smart but casual. My checkered trench coat is perfect for layering and is quickly becoming my go-to piece for summer.”

“It’s easy to pack for city breaks when you stay within the three golden steps. Firstly, stay within a colour scheme. Second, pack a versatile blouse that can be belted, tucked in or worn loose and thirdly, don’t forget your outerwear can also become the statement for an outfit.”
