When it’s cold outside there’s nothing quite like staying in your pyjamas and snuggling up on the sofa with a duvet, a thrilling read and that box set you’ve been meaning to watch for a while. Our five-point guide to planning the perfect at-home relaxation covers all you need to sit (or lay) and stay for a while.
Pick your attire
Getting your loungewear right is the key to lazy day comfort. Loose shapes, supple fabrics and plenty of layers are the go-to – pretty them up with delicate pattern, lace trim and silky finishes.
Decide on your snuggle spot
Whether reclining in bed or on the sofa, one of the easiest ways to create an inviting and downright lovely space is to mix different patterns and textures, while sticking to the same tones. Opt for soft bedding, plump cushions and sumptuous throws, and then layer them up!
Organise your entertainment
Getting lost in a good book is a great way to unwind, so have a selection ready to peruse. Add a touch of variety by switching your book for a film, (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, anyone?), or that series you’ve been saving for this occasion.
Indulge in good food
This one needs a little pre-duvet-day preparation, but it’s worthwhile. Warming food and naughty sips are the perfect accompaniment to a cosy scene, so why not indulge in a perfectly-spiced stew, before settling in with a moreish mug of hot chocolate – recipes for both this way!
Choose a companion
Sometimes duvet days are about catching up on some much-needed you time, others are about reconnecting with friends and spending uninterrupted, quality time with loved ones. If you decide that this isn’t a solo occasion, plan ahead, get a date in the diary and make sure your sidekick’s available.
