Conscious Beauty: The Soap Co.

Image 1There’s one thing you should know: The Soap Co. is not your average beauty brand. Creator of luxury, handmade soaps and hand lotions, the East London-based brand is most known for its die-hard ethical conscience.

Image 2Since launching in 2015, the brand has captured the attention of beauty aficionados everywhere thanks to its gold-standard craftsmanship and its hiring of the disadvantaged and visually impaired.

We are proud to say that every time you use a product from The Soap Co., you are creating opportunities for people who are blind or otherwise disabled or disadvantaged who create, pack, sell and distribute our soaps with care.

With an ethos as black and white as its branding, it’s not surprising that The Soap Co. goes out of its way to reduce its environmental footprint with each item in the range crafted in their traditional workshop in the Lake District.

We wanted to discover more about their indulgent beauty products and how they’re made so we asked for a behind the scenes tour of their Keswick workshop to see how their signature cold-pressed soaps are made.

Infused with everything from nourishing olive oil, to coconut oil, Aloe vera and poppy seeds, each luxurious soap, hand wash and hand lotion is made using natural extracts and added vitamins, and is free from parabens and artificial colours.

In keeping with its authentic process, each soap is then hand cut and stamped with the maker’s name.

Image 11Committed to making the world a better place, The Soap Co.’s renowned for its iconic packaging which uses old milk bottles, recyclable wood pulp, compostable sticky labels and non-toxic glue from start to finish.
