What is a duvet?

A duvet is a type of bed covering that consists of two parts: an insert and a cover. (Much like the pillow and pillowcase relationship.) The soft insert resembles a plain comforter or quilt, it’s typically made from down, feathers, or a synthetic material. The cover is useful as a protective cover, but also for being decorative (and easy to swap).

What is the difference between a duvet and a comforter?

Duvets and comforters are both soft bed coverings. However, a duvet has the added benefit of a cover that’s easy to remove, wash and replace often. Whereas a comforter is an all-in-one decorative bed covering.

A duvet insert is a bed covering made up of two pieces of fabric material sewn together and filled with material of your choice (down, feathers, wool, synthetic blends). Duvet inserts come in sizes from Twin to King, and are meant to be protected by a duvet cover.
