I work with silk and if you find this shedding -it will stop after a while......
If it Smells bad - silk absorbs its surroundings and it may have spent some time in a musty old wooden crate - put it in a bag with a bit of your favorite potpourri or a hanky with your favorite perfume... and if its scratchy - HAND wash it in COLD water and rinse it with a double dose of fabric softener wrap it in a giant bath towel to take out most of the water and hang it over a shower curtain to dry. Such an incredibly beautiful thing and I want to live with mine for a long time. I know silk ages beautifully.

I returned the quirky heirloom throw for this one. I have an Indian/bohemian style going on in my apartment, and I chose to pair this throw with the purple rosette bedding and some fun, colorful pillows from world market. It's gorgeous. Indeed, it's not the softest thing you've ever touched, but it's not unpleasant either. And as for the "fraying" and "unprofessional" look that others have talked about... Per the product description, it is made from recycled saris... So yes, there are loose ends in the braided pieces; however, it's vibrant, and vintage, and beautiful in it's imperfections.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by ericaruth worst anthro purchase yet
i think this is the lowest rating i've ever dished out on an anthro product. the picture is super deceptive and makes the throw look luscious and soft, whereas in reality, it's the total opposite. not only is this quite possibly the roughest cloth thing i've ever touched, it is also a frayed, shedding disaster. the throw is made of alternating strips of braided, recycled sari and really rough knitted "yarn". the sari strips are all frayed and braided sloppily, causing it to shed frayed strands of silk and causing pieces of the braids to just stick out awkwardly and unprofessionally. the knitted strips are, as i've said, REALLY rough, and obnoxiously neon. if you like 70s style, super bright colors then you might love that part. those strips are the same as the colors in the photo, but in the photo, they look more subdued. i have to say that i think this is the only thing ive ever tried or tested at anthro that i would not EVER recommed to anyone.
