by queenissac Gorgeous cookie jar!
I can't believe no one has reviewed this thing! I was really pleased upon opening the box for this cookie jar. The craftsman ship is impeccable (I am one of those people that "inspects" items I buy to pick the "best one" so I always cross my fingers when I order stuff like this online hoping I don't get the one w/ a paint glob or in this case a misshapen ram head or something lol). The whole thing was evenly colored & glazed (inside & out) w/ the most lovely crackle finish over the entire thing & inside. (I tried to capture this in PhotoBooth for you guys but it wasn't showing up.) The lid also has a removable rubber gasket (see photo) & although I wouldn't say it's 100% airtight, it does provide a good seal (keeping your goods fresh longer), the lid won't fall off accidentally & it prevents the stoneware from rubbing against itself preventing chips. It's also HUGE! Could definitely fit a batch of choco-chips inside easily (I mean it does say it's 12" deep). I bought this one because my kitchen is mainly white & I'm an Aries (ram). All in all a great buy ESPECIALLY at the sale price. Buy one before they're gone! Would make a gorgeous gift, too.

As pictured, true to color. Basic cookie jar with alpine scene. Perfect for my kid's snack bars and fair price so I won't be devastated when it shatters.

You won't regret getting this at the sale price. It's large, which I like because I keep sweets in it. Also, there is a firm rubber gripper around the mouth of the jar - so if you'd like to keep air out, it's secure. The only two things that caught me off guard were: 1) how much my husband complained about not liking the animals on top - which I get, they stick up pretty tall and because of the white-ivory color it's not clear what the figures are exactly; and 2) how tall AND narrow it is - my hand just barely gets through, and my hands are average size. It's not a huge problem for me - but it limits what we can put inside. As a guide: a chocolate bar fits but not a bagel.
