I loved this dress when I saw it in the store, and felt it was just the type of dress I always need for my casual work environment in spring and summer (in Texas!) - easy to wear, can add a sweater when needed, casual or works for more dressed up occasions based on shoes, jewelry, etc.. I tried a medium, my normal size, and thought it looked great from the front - pretty much like the model photo.
From the side it wasn't so successful, though - I am a little curvy and thought the dress accented the curves ... not so well. The effect was the back ruffle hugging my bum a little and I looked a little like a sausage in a ruffled casing. I could have sized up for more drape from the side view, but think it would have been too long - I like dresses a few inches above my knee and this was fine from the front with the longer ruffle in back - I wouldn't want it any longer. (I'm 5' 7", so this is not a short dress).
Recommended for quality (nice soft lining) and style, perhaps not for a curvy girl (at least not this one!) and better on a taller, willowy figure.

I saw this dress online and thought it was beachy and cute, despite being black. I also figured I live in MA, have no vacations planned to anywhere warm for about 5 months, and thus completely moved on. Until, of course, I saw it hanging in my local store, and realized what material it is. It's this almost gingham-patterned black on black that is the exact same fabric as was used on one of my all-time favorite Anthro items, a navy dress with asymmetrical slashes of this material, silk, and jersey, a dress that has traveled all over the world with me rolled in a suitcase and gone from dinner and drinks to work to out dancing without a hitch. Thus, I had to try this on. The fabric immediately takes it from the beachy to the more practical. It looks cute with a cardigan, and is adorable with a narrow belt. Its loungey shape is actually quite flattering, as well done drop waists can be, and the gathering at the best works really well. Length-wise, it came just above my knees, since I'm just 5'6"ish and not model height.
The feel of this dress is similar to its predecessor, as it's comfortable, seems like it will pack well, and could easily be worn to the office, out to dinner, or out for an easy spring party of any kind. It just depends on the accessories and accoutrements. I couldn't walk away from it, honestly, and I'm so glad that I didn't.

This dress is much nicer in person! It's a flattering fit that helps hide any tummy imperfections. The texture in the material makes it look like a nicer quality than pictured online. It can be dressed up with the right accessories for a evening out or dressed down for a casual event. A perfect LBD for spring/summer. It does run a little big. I'm 5'6", size 10 and the medium worked perfectly. Highly recommend!
