Camellia Dress

Rated 5 out of 5 by Just Beautiful I was eyeing this dress online, so I was thrilled to see it in my local Anthro store so that I could try it on. I am shorter, 5'3", so I worried that it would be overwhelming and long. I tried the regular 10, my normal size in a fitted dress. The length of the dress, even on my shorter frame, wasn't the issue. Because of the shape of the dress and the net underneath the skirt that helps it to stand out just a bit, the length wasn't dowdy and didn't cut me off. I decided to order a 10p though, because of the top half of the dress. I am short waisted, and I felt like I would have to have the dress taken up in the shoulder so that it wouldn't droop too much in the chest and arms. In other words, I would have needed to tack up the top. FYI: I am 5'3", 36D, and I have a short waist and broad back/shoulders. The top half also didn't make me look broader, and that is a plus for sure! When I pulled up the top half of the dress by an inch, the waist fit me perfectly (short waited, remember) and flowed over my torso just as it does on the model in the photo. I have no hips, so the dress makes me look like I have curves. That is also a plus. The fabric is substancial, but it is also soft. As I mentioned, there is a slip underneath with a net that doesn't lay directly on your skin. It took me a minute to find the pockets, and I felt like they weren't necessarily in the right place. I would have liked them on the inseams rather than positioned in the front of the dress, but that wasn't a deal breaker. It is a little expensive, though, and with the bold print might not be one that you could wear regularly enough to get your money out of it. But, I can see that it would be a long-term investment, so I decided to choose it this year. As I said, it is just beautiful. February 23, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Almost, but not quite The quality and colors of this dress are outstanding. The fabric feels luxurious and the print and colors are true to the picture. I found that the fit of the dress was a bit bizarre. Normally the fit and flare style is flattering on most body types. On this particular dress however, the flare starts too low. Instead of flaring at the waist and creating a pretty hourglass silhouette, it is fitted through the hips and then flares. For me, it tended to accentuate all the things I didn't want accentuated, like my love handles. I bet if you have a flawless figure this dress would be perfect. Not for me though. April 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this dress I have a special event in May and need a dress that could handle a hat to go with it. This dress is perfect. It fits like a glove, fabric feels great and the print is BRIGHT. Will be a great dress for all my special events that need a dress to bridge between cocktail and daytime. February 18, 2014
