Marseille Pencil Dress

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Dress I tried (and reviewed) the Greenwich pencil dress in a 12 and thought with this I would go down to a 10. The ten while snugger across the hips, did not gap on top as much as the 12 did. The design is on the conservative side and well constructed. The one thing I don't like is how the lining is attached. While the dress is fully lined (in an excellent sturdy material I might add#, it is only attached on top and in the back. For me that meant that the front was all bunched up and even when standing I could not get it to lay flat. It does not seem possible to sew the entire lining to the dress, so it might have to be sewn in sections. Not sure if that would address the bunching up. The dress has a high waist which is evident with a visible seam. You could add a thin belt or leave as designed. The "nude" color is more of a dark taupe than it appears in the photo. As I am curvier on the bottom, the dress did show off the curves in a flattering way and with the block of black and taupe really sets them off. I personally can see wearing this dress all year to mostly work/ work related events. The length is great #yay not a mini or midi dress) and hits me right at the knee. January 10, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Unique design, not flattering on curves I purchased this dress in a size 6, my usual size. The skirt portion tapers in as it approaches the knee, which was not flattering on my curvier hips. I think the cut is just not as flattering on someone with larger hips, so I don't think sizing up would help. The dress also has more texture (nubby is the word that comes to mind) than can be seen in the product shot, and it has almost a shimmery quality that I associate with cheaply made clothing. I am between 5'9" and 5'10", and the dress hit me just above the knee. January 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great dress I absolutely love this dress. It is super flattering because of the vertical lines and the way that it is cut. I think it's not for you if you're super curvy, but it helps accentuate curves for someone with a slender/athletic build. I am a 2/4 and got the 2, so it hugged a bit, but in a good way. I wore it to work during the day, with a black jacket over it, and then out for dinner that night, without the jacket. March 20, 2013
