I've been using these as my main plates everyday for almost 4 years. I started with 12 dinner plates, 12 salad plates, and 8 of the bowls. I always wash them in the dishwasher and use them in the microwave. I don't treat them carefully. I've had two dinner plates chip, but that's it. I haven't noticed any knife marks. They're beautiful. I'm also surprised that some reviewers think the dinner plates are too small. That has never been a problem for us! I like having the lip on the side when I eat. They take up more room in your cupboard when stacked than other plates might, but I have an open corner cupboard and I keep them stacked there, to keep them handy and show them off. When they're all stacked, they look like an interesting sculpture. The bowls are indeed small for eating cereal or soup, perfect for eating ice cream. I chose another style of larger bowl that looked good with these plates.

my roommate had these plates, they are beautiful! they look delicate but they are very sturdy. they are not heavy and too thick like my plates.

These caught my eye and when I visited the local Anthro store, I couldn't but help but fall in love with the plates. They were not only a stunning green but they were sturdy. I wouldn't have to worry about these plates breaking easy (although I did receive one plate snapped in half and waiting for its replacement).
These plates are microwavable and dishwasher safe. I would be careful when using a knife on them as I noticed that I was leaving ever so faint scratch marks. Still I don't regret getting this collection of dish ware at all. Wish there were more to the Lotus line.
