I want to buy this and I want to buy it so it will be enough for 6 people. I am wondering about the description where it says: Set of five assorted pieces. Does that mean each time I purchase a "set" that it will most likely be different quantities of forks, spoons and knives?

to the previous reviewer: a set of five is one place setting. so you'd order a set for each place setting that you want.
as for the product itself. i got four place settings and this rang true for all of them. the salad forks and teaspoons were tiny, like baby silverware, in length. the size of the spoon/fork part was normal but they were all so short that it was weird looking. other than that, everything was cute. i just think i'm going to return them because they weren't cute ENOUGH for the money.
every piece i got was different, which was good. most of them were lovely like the product pictures, with engraved flowers and monograms etc, but about two pieces were completely hideous and art-deco style. they just looked really out of place.

No, "assorted" doesn't mean you could possibly get 5 knives or 4 forks and 1 spoon, it means that the patterns on the handles will not match. The sets are consistently made up of the pieces shown (2 spoons, 2 forks, 1 knife).
