I LOVE these. We bought the large and [right now] it's nesting on our fireplace mantel as a decorative accent, but the large ($24) one is ONE hour, so it is a fantastic piece to take with you up to your room when you're getting ready for a night on the town (if you're like me you tend to lollygag and take forEVER to get ready!) . The $12 "small" ones are for ten minutes, so I could see someone with kids being able to use those (e.g. "When this runs out of sand you need to be ready to get in the car for soccer.")
(As information, per my local Anthro, the smallest hourglass - the "XS" - is for 5 minutes, "S" for 10, and the "M" $24 one is for half an hour.)
These make awesome presents, too. Besides being pretty, they can serve myriad functions. I am picking up many for Christmas, as they'll make A GREAT stocking stuffer!

Olive & Blue: 9.25"H, 3.75" D ran about 30 minutes
Purple & Clear: 4.75"H, 2.75" D ran about 5 minutes
Does anyone have run times on the other sizes?

Lankin's review is correct... for the most part. You see, there are three chambers on the "medium" olive and blue hourglass instead of two. When this hourglass is turned, yes- a large chamber will empty out in around 30 minutes (I clocked 28 and some odd seconds). However, over time sand then builds up in the center chamber, emptying out for a total running time of 40 minutes (or 38 in my case, as memory serves me.)
