by NickelL Beautiful but not functional at all
These coasters are beautiful, but after one use they are starting to breakdown. The wood is warping, the inlays are popping right off and the finish is completely gone. I've only used one of the four that I purchased, but am going to have to try and save the one I've used and refinish all of the others before I use them. Coasters should function as coasters, especially at $10/each. Do not buy these unless you plan to refinish them yourself before use.

I love the look of these coasters, but within the first twenty minutes of use, there was a ring on the coaster--the same type of ring the coaster is supposed to protect my table from--left from the bit of water that was on the base of my glass.
In other words, these coasters are really esthetically pleasing, but there is a serious design flaw in their functionality. I like them well enough that I am going to try to find a way to waterproof them, but I'm still not sure what that solution will be. Unless you are also willing to devote that kind of time and expense--or unless you don't mind your coasters looking exactly the way your table would look if you didn't use coasters--I can't recommend this product.

I purchased these coasters in the store a month ago and have been using them everyday since. They seem to be of strong quality and I haven't had the issue of leaving rings as the other reviewer. If you do however, you could spray them with an indoor polyurethane and that should seal them from any water damage.
The only negative would be none of them are a consistent size. I purchased two in the lime green and two in teal. The green ones seem a tad bigger than the teal, and none of them are actually the same size. For me personally I find that it adds an element of uniqueness; yet I could see it as an area of contention for others.
