I own virtually every single striped Bailey 44 column dress (see my other reviews on Anthro) b/c they are extremely flattering and versatile. This one does not disappoint! The solid color portrait neckline on this model makes this one stand out from all the others and perhaps makes this the most formal one of them all. I wore mine to a chateau wedding in Quebec and got tons of compliments. I dressed it up with a formal vintage necklace for this wedding but can easily also wear this to give a talk or to teach in the classroom (I am a university professor). Personally, I think the dress would be more striking if it was black and white rather than navy and cream but it almost looks black in certain lighting. The downside is that it pills very easily like all the other Bailey 44 column dresses do. This is more evident with the navy and cream colors (I also own the navy and cream in the capped sleeves version). Clearly, this flaw has not stopped me from buying these dresses. I have dry cleaned and handwashed these dresses and I see no difference so may continue to hand wash. For reference, I am 5'1 and 100 lbs and wearing the XS petite which fits very well. For this style, I think you want it to be more form fitting on top so would not size up. I'm glad Anthro makes these dresses in petite now b/c they fit me better than ever.

I actually didn't like this dress that much when I saw it online, thinking that maybe we've had enough of the striped column dresses. I was also a little worried because the reviews said that this one ran large in comparison to the other Bailey 44 column dresses and thought I might need to try the petite version (which would probably be a more suitable length). When I saw this hanging on the rack at the Anthro store today, though, I decided to try it on and was pleasantly surprised.
I love the neckline used on this dress, which is different than the high neck or scoopneck of past versions. For me personally, the neckline seemed a bit wider than it does on the model so it did take me a minute to make sure that my bra straps didn't show through (and I'm not sure whether with all day wear, you might have your bra straps peeking out at times).
Even better than the neckline, though, is the fit! I'm very slender (5'5" and 100lbs) and often am sized out. I have the original column dress (I believe the "Layered Column Dress"), but this one had an even slimmer fit. I tried on the XS (regular, not petite) and it fit like a dream, better than how it looks on the model, imo (it looks a little baggier on the model which is how the layered column dress fit me). The length is similar to the Layered Column Dress -- a few inches past my knees, but it could be easily hemmed. This one gave my straight figure some actual curves (and more so than the previous versions)! I also love the cap sleeves. Like the other dresses, this one has the signature raw edges. I'm almost mad at myself for trying the dress on because now I can't stop thinking about it, but don't really want to pay the high price point.
The only other problem that I saw was that there was a weird fold for me near armpit area on the side where the sold black (supposedly dark navy) meets the stripes which you can see in the closeup belo. I don't know if this is just my body type or the placement of the fabric. Still, not enough to detract from the overall look.

I purchased this dress based on the other reviews and found it does definitely flatter and is incredibly comfortable! It gave me curves and shape. I wore it to a gala which was black and white in theme and found the dark navy and cream combination was perfect. I also bought the LeifNotes shoes shown in the picture and received tons of compliments all night on the entire ensemble! However, the shoes, which were on sale and are no longer available are not nearly as comfortable as the dress! For reference I am 5'10", 135#, 36A and the size small fit me perfectly. I could not move the sizing slider to indicate it runs large.
