Rated 5 out of 5 by Fits a straight figure best. TTS for Anthro brand! I ordered this skirt the morning the collection was released to Anthro card holders. I planned to order both a 6 and an 8. I suspected it would sell out fast. As I checked out, the size 6 went out of stock. SIZE: I'm normally a 6 in Anthro brand skirts, and an 8 in most non-Anthro brands. I'm 5'5" tall, 137 lbs, 36-30-37, 34DD, long torso. 21" length would barely graze the tops of my knees. I prefer a skirt that covers my knees. FIT: TTS for Anthro brands. The size 8 fits loose enough to wear the skirt below my waist, so the length gets an extra inch. The cut is more like a J Crew pencil skirt. This will fit a straight figure best. I'm close with a 7" difference between waist and hips. I wear shorts under my skirts in summer, so the slick lining causes the skirt to ride up. There are no belt loops, so I can't belt the skirt into submission. Halfway through the day I un-tucked my T shirt and wore it over the skirt. It seemed a shame to cover the cute menswear pockets. The skirt became looser at the waist by the end of the day. The fullness below the hips is between pencil and a-line. PLEATS: The skirt has 3 adorable, kick pleats!!! You will need a seam ripper to open up the threads. Once open, they make the skirt even wider at the bottom. As much as I love the kick pleats, I wish I had opened the center pleat only. Smooth the back of the skirt before sitting to keep the pleats in check. I machine washed my skirt in a delicate bag and dried it on low. As expected it needs pressing. PRINT: The green background is a good color for me, but I can see where others could take issue. The print is of colored pencils, not No. 2 pencils. People will smile, even giggle, and then ask where you got it. My friend was disappointed Petite sizing was not offered. Despite personal fit issues, this skirt deserves 5 stars. No pencil skirt made from non-stretch cotton twill will fit everyone. The details are outstanding, the price is less than expected, the materials are quality, and it's machine wash, tumble dry. I applaude Anthro and look forward to future archival collections. How about 21 pieces for 21 next year! A Christmas Collection would be welcome too. July 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by PENCILSKIRT! 1. I'm 5'5" tall, 138 lbs and 38-32-40 and the size 10 fit me perfectly, if a hair loose in the waist. The regular length hits about an inch above my knees, so it's not as short as the online photo. 2. I got the navy which almost looks black. 3. The print is well positioned, and the welt pocket has a pencil going sideways. The welt pockets are sewn shut. 4. Zipper up the back with hook and eye at the waist. Three box pleats in the back instead of a kick pleat. No slits. Fully lined. 5. This literally goes with everything and looks cute and casual, but could also pull off a relaxed office look with a jacket. December 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by it's back! I was so excited to see this Archival Collection skirt back on the website in deep navy with bright pencils. I waited too long and the original design sold out, but serendipitously, the new color combo is even better for my skin tone. The original beige and pastel pencils design was lovely, but I prefer navy and brights. The fit is true to size, and it's great that it comes in shorter petite sizing lengths. December 18, 2013

When we asked our Executive Creative Director, Johanna, how this 2004 reissue first came to be, her response was simple: "Why did we make the original? Because the idea of a pencil pencil skirt made us smile."
