Ombre Pleated Shirtdress

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stunning Overall, this dress is as stunning in person as in the online photos. My two quibbles are that the skirt drapes a little longer in the back than the front (what my sister calls "the mullet effect"); and the bodice is a bit wide, so it seems to bag more than the online picture shows. Bonus: the bodice and skirt are lined with soft, white material; no need for a separate slip and that much warmer for winter wear! I can't wait to wear it! January 7, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Loved the colors but not the style I love the colors of this dress. It is fully lined and the quality was great. Once I tried it on I realized that it was too big and looked too matronly for me. The top fit fine but the bottom appeared large and unflattering. March 9, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by No, no, no. Simply put, this is a no. One reviewer mentioned it bags around the bodice area; I beg to differ, it *balloons* there. There is so much extra fabric that the dress ends up looking rather ill-fitting. Let's just say there's a reason the model has her arms so close in all the photos. Sadly for me, the ultimate reason it's going back to the store is that it simply does not look good on darker-skinned women. The colors look great in the picture, on a fairer complexion; but anyone darker than 'olive' should steer clear of this dress. The yellow turmeric color is nice, but lavender does not match our skin, and that's the clincher. March 13, 2013

Jessie Finkelstein and Kate King, the creative partnership behind JF & Son, have a knack for creating color-drenched designs - their past as a textile design consultancy may have a little something to do with that. Since launching their apparel brand in 2009, they have focused on artist collaborations and exclusive collections, though they have recently shuttered their Lower East Side storefront to focus on a design residency at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. With a sheer panel at the shoulders, this silken, pleated ombre shirtdress dress is as vivid as they come, and offers a new take on colorblocking.
