Rated 2 out of 5 by Beautiful Idea, Awkward Execution The product shot of this dress looks amazing - however, reality was quite different. I am not sure how they pinned everything in its proper place to achieve the product shot (especially the defined waist) - but the only way this dress will ever look like that is with some serious tailoring. I liked the fabric and have no complaints about the quality. There are some well placed pockets and the back is interesting - yet workable - I think with some fashion tape it wouldn't be too much trouble to wear a normal bra. Fit: I am normally a six/eight - I had my true medium - which was definitely way too big. I would recommend sizing down. January 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Will keep, but several tailoring issues So, as many of others have noted, this is an awesome, unique dress. i personally like the silk noil (noil is "raw silk" or "thai silk" and is made with the short fibers left over in the silk spinning process, thus it is more like linen than silk), because the texture is awesome. As a result, i will keep this dress. But, there are definitely some weird tailoring choices going on. First off, the waist does not hit at the true waist, but neither is it empire waisted. i have a pretty high waist, and this hits a couple of inches above mine. Also, because it has no band, and because the two layers of silk noil are quite thick, the unusual waist line is made very bulky. It isn't a deal breaker, but does create a very odd baby doll look to the dress. Finally, the blue layer is weirdly short, creating the idea of peplum without actually achieving it. Without black tights, the length of the blue layer seems unbalanced. Finally, someone mentioned that you have to undo the buttons to put the dress on. i didn't. Another person mentioned that this couldn't be worn with a bra. i had no problem camouflaging a black bra, but even with very high breasts, a little bit of the band does peek out. It isn't wretched. Rated 4 out of 5 by I agree with the first reviewer that it is rather shocking at the thickness and heaviness of that "silk noil"! It looks so much softer and flowier in the picture but in real life, not so much! I am keeping this dress however as it is very unique. I found this to be TTS, you can't wear a bra with this because of the back, and FYI the buttons in the back are hard to reach around to button up, keep the top one's buttoned when you slip it on and then you only have to do the bottom ones.
