Rated 3 out of 5 by Where are all the well made cardigans? I've been a customer of Anthropologie's for about 15 years now, and I have seen the construction of their sweaters, cardigans and blouses go down hill since then. The present catalog is inundated with mediocrity - it's depressing. The fabrics are populated with synthetics or blends of natural and synthetics; buttons fall off easily, seams rip, fabrics pill, and half of the sweaters are see through. They have traded quality of product for corporate greed - I've just about had it. This sweater has some potentially cute accents. The cuffs are sweet, and the buttons are charming. But I can almost guarantee you'll be re-sewing the buttons on within a month and the trim along the cuffs will lose it's crisp, cute detailing to fast deterioration. The fabric of this cardigan is thin, almost see through - it will not withstand more than a season. Would you rather spend $200-500.00 for a quality, well-made sweater that lasts a decade of wear and tear, or a shoddily constructed product that pills up, wears down and needs to be replaced after only one season, for a fraction of the price. I have sweaters from this company in great condition that I purchased in the 1990's - they still look fabulous - why? because they were well made and their purchasing department at the time cared about what quality meant. It's systemic throughout the fashion industry - this idea of wear it today, throw it away tomorrow. It's systemic throughout most of our consumer culture today - gross! Americans especially have decided that they would rather wear something one season and then replace it with another inferior product the following year. I'd rather spend $500.00 on a quality piece that lasts 10 years rather than $80.00 on something that will only last one year. The better value is the $500.00 quality purchase - it costs less in the long run, and is a better choice for our society, our planet and our conscious. This cardigan runs small. I wouldn't recommend this cardigan or 80% of most cardigans or sweaters from Anthropologie any longer. March 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by super cute I have to disagree with the other review, I'm not sure we even looked at the same cardigan? The one i received (in black) is definitely not see through, it's very durable, medium weight. The buttons are actually backed with a tiny button on the other side to prevent pull through, which is nice feature you usually see on pricier sweaters. It's true the cuff detail looks delicate. It's a sort of lace effect with ribbon and delicate crochet. So you have to pull it on carefully for that reason ( be careful with jewelry/watches) but the body of the sweater is very solid, not at all as the other review described. One thing though is that it is much more cropped fit that the model shows. I am 5'5" 120lb and normally size 4, 34B and it hits me just at the waist, which actually looks really cute and has slenderizing effect (if you are small busted). So size up if you want fit like the photo or are chesty. But I think it's adorable. May 23, 2013
