Rated 3 out of 5 by brinnet A story of Chanel, not a style guide
Chanel is a very interesting historical figure, so she's really a gem to read about. This book, however, is a mix of quasi-advice, the author's interested in a Chanel jacket, and the story of Chanel -- and it's mostly the latter. I received this book as a present (and enjoyed it), but I'm not keeping it on my shelf. I was hoping to use it as a reference book (a sort of "style gospel"), but nope, that's not really what it is. I read the story of Chanel, and on it has gone to the next reader. Seems a bit expensive for such a quick read -- I'd find this book at the library.

If you have the least inkling of who Coco Chanel is and where did she get her style, then this is the book for you. The way it is written is as if you are having a conversation with the author. She gives little snippets of who is the person behind the huge persona of Coco. She was way ahead of her time and certainly a person to emulate even today! I loved every page of the story the author tells...... adorable little book with equally adorable illustrations. Highly recommend.

I gave this to my mom for a gift.....the illustrations are beautiful and she said the book was a very fun read. She is still reading it. It also looks nice on her coffee table because the cover is so attractive. It was a great buy for her.
