Rated 5 out of 5 by compote I don't know what other people are doing with these things, but the round peg that sticks up is not "meant" to act as a stop for the shelf, as another review said. Instead, what I did was drill a couple holes on the underside of a nice piece of wood that the round pegs would slide into, thus holding the wood in place. This way, you don't see them at all, as they are inserted into the wood.
The thing about anthropologie hardware is you have to be willing to play around with it a bit to get the most use out of it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lily3356 Very heavy; I like the style. I could not find this in any store. I would appreciate the recommended weight, dimensions of board to get for the shelf, however.

Anthropologie has such beautiful hardware, but what the snot?!? Why are there so often those little tabs sticking up from the top preventing one from balancing a shelf much wider than 5 inches? It's so silly. There should be a hole instead to drive a screw through. I was fooled once...
