Rated 5 out of 5 by Refreshingly Retro When I saw this dress, I knew I would eventually come around to purchasing it. I read and re-read all the reviews before making my size selection. The 4 model angles helped me understand that the style and fit is unique in that the belt in the front runs though the dress at the sides and attaches to the inside back. The dolman sleeves and the loose or dart less back is clearly demonstrated as well. There were no surprises when I put my dress on.... it is exactly what I was hoping for. The colour and fabric are beautiful and true to the photos on the website. I am 5' 8" and 140 so I ordered the medium. I am straight through the waist and short waisted with longer legs so I think the bit of extra fabric is a plus. I think the cut actually flatters my figure and doesn't make me look frumpy or lumpy. The weight of the fabric makes the dress fall nicely over my backside... no ballooning. The cut of this dress might be tricky on someone who is very busty as the belt may ride up. I am wearing mine now with teal coloured tights and cognac coloured tall boots. Every time I step out I receive 1 or more compliments so I am a happy camper. January 9, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Hmmmm... This dress is adorable and funky. On the model. In real life, the fabric has a wonderful texture, high quality and the colors are gorgeous. The fit is... peculiar. By giving the design a 5, I mean that conceptually the design is interesting when you're looking at the model here. What actually happens when you put it on: you have to spend some time figuring out how to make it work, because once you're wearing it, the cuteness of this dress is definitely NOT self-evident. It looked like I had cut a piece from a bolt of fabric, sliced a hole in it and stuck my head through. The trick, girlfriends, is gathering the fabric towards the front of the dress after you have the belt fastened. That gives the front of the dress a pleat-like appearance, interesting movement, and a waistline and ensures that you don't look like you're wearing a an ill-fitting mumu. That said, once you figure it out, it can work. Also, the belt is probably a bit short for most people: I'm tall and very thin and small boned -- I have the belt fastened on the very last hole. It's a squeeze. I'm thinking of swapping it out for a nice bright grosgrain ribbon. This is the first time I can recall being slightly disappointed in an Anthro dress, and like I said, it CAN work with some effort -- I think especially on tall, slightly curvier women (which I'm not). If I were stateside, I might return it even though I do love the quality, fabric, texture, color and general idea. Since I live abroad, and paid full price for this item, I'm going to suck it up and make it work. :) December 29, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by stunning This dress is absolutely beautiful. The material is a thicker cotton yet moveable. The colors are great and the design is unique. I am 5'7", 145 lbs. normally an 8/10 and the medium fits great. Very nice. December 2, 2012
