Rated 4 out of 5 by jbeck cool but overpriced
This lamp is simple, but awesome! However due to the simplicity of it, i think it is slightly overpriced, especially since the light bulb shown comes separate for an extra $18. i hope it lasts!

I absolutely loved the Menlo at first sight, but I bought it with a bit of trepidation because I thought it might not be bright enough to be functional. I am glad to say my hesitation was unfounded. Though this lamp would never be a main light source, it beautifully illuminates a dark-ish corner in my living room. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was missing because the lamp absolutely has an on/off "switch." You can see it in the picture. It's like a little Alice in Wonderland key that comes through the glass on the side and turns with a nice satisfying click. The glass itself has a very appealing subtle texture that makes it look handblown.
The Edison bulb is definitely not cheap, but since it's the basis of the whole aesthetic you kind of have to get it. I've used the lamp every night for the last six months and the bulb hasn't burned out yet, if that's any consolation.

This is a beautiful lamp! The wood base, the hardware and the glass shade are all nice quality. I bought two of them to put in my kitchen. I have a 40 watt "squirrel cage" filament bulb in the lamp and it is super bright. My only complaint about the lamp is that it doesn't have a dimmer switch. I mistakenly assumed that it would. Oh well. I like it enough that I wouldn't return it.
