I normally do not purchase column dresses, typically I go for a more vintage vibe with more flair but this dress was too good to pass up. At a little over 5'9, in a size small it fits me like the model, maybe slightly more snug on me (I have a bit more in the bum and bust). I had tried the medium as well just for comparison and the small was much better. The medium had extra material in the waist and the longer armpits were even longer showing bra sides. This is a body conscious dress but in all the right ways, really it makes you feel pretty darn good about yourself. The lines give the illusion of being long and lean and everything gets a little sucked in and on top of that, its great for tall girls - its knee length to slightly past if there is a petite option, that might be better for the ladies that are a few inches shorter). I typically wear a size 4/small in Maeve so I felt the dress was TTS (measurements 34/27/36 and 34C). I wouldn't wear this dress to work as it is very fitted (though I work at a school, so maybe for some ladies who have a bit more relaxed vibe this would work - even though its fitted, it quite modest being knee length and no cleavage) but it will be lovely through the spring and summer with heels, flats, sandals, etc and lights jackets and cardigans. Though I didn't go to anthro with the intent of purchasing this dress nor did I have high hopes when I pulled it from the rack, this dress had to come home with me as it was too good to pass up. You might be able to wait until sale and it would definitely be a steal but I felt it was worth full price. A soft lining, great line segment placement, substantial material with good stretch, modest yet shows off the figure- a winner!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by wahlsl Great dress but stripe placement matters
I love a good column dress so tried this at my local store. I tried a medium and small for size and while the small was a better fit, the medium was more flattering due to strip placement. I thought maybe the variation was due to size but then found two smalls with completely different patterns. The placement with larger strips at the bust, smaller at the waist is more flattering than larger striped at waist, smaller at bust. While I might have gone for a petite for length, I purchase a regular size small. This is one you have to try and pick for yourself (or if possible order two on line to see what you get).

 by edkimwards so flattering
I'm 25 weeks pregnant and needed a dress for my upcoming baby shower. I saw this on the sale rack and decided to try it, thinking it would be way too tight. I was wrong! The size medium is perfect and the fabric is stretchy enough to accommodate my bump (although probably not for the entire pregnancy). What's more is that it's lined with another stretchy fabric so it hides panty lines really well. I'll wear it with sandals and a cardigan (now and after the baby comes!).
