I saw this dress online and thought it was beachy and cute, despite being black. I also figured I live in MA, have no vacations planned to anywhere warm for about 5 months, and thus completely moved on. Until, of course, I saw it hanging in my local store, and realized what material it is. It's this almost gingham-patterned black on black that is the exact same fabric as was used on one of my all-time favorite Anthro items, a navy dress with asymmetrical slashes of this material, silk, and jersey, a dress that has traveled all over the world with me rolled in a suitcase and gone from dinner and drinks to work to out dancing without a hitch. Thus, I had to try this on. The fabric immediately takes it from the beachy to the more practical. It looks cute with a cardigan, and is adorable with a narrow belt. Its loungey shape is actually quite flattering, as well done drop waists can be, and the gathering at the best works really well. Length-wise, it came just above my knees, since I'm just 5'6"ish and not model height.
The feel of this dress is similar to its predecessor, as it's comfortable, seems like it will pack well, and could easily be worn to the office, out to dinner, or out for an easy spring party of any kind. It just depends on the accessories and accoutrements. I couldn't walk away from it, honestly, and I'm so glad that I didn't.

I'm 5'7 and the length can always be an issue. It wasn't too short but long enough to wear to work. I've worn this a couple times out and to work and get tons of compliments. It's a versatile dress that can be dressed up or down and worn in any season.

Not for girls with hips. I recommend sizing up if you want the drape shown in the picture, as I found it to be too tight on my hips and bum. I'm not used to garments being too short for me even in petite sizes as I am 4'11", but I felt like this dress was not long enough. I would try getting a regular size, but I think it will be too low cut up top. Also, I felt that the material looked cheap in person. Considering the cost of the dress, I would expect it to look a bit more luxe. Back it goes.
