Rated 4 out of 5 by Not a must have for me, thank goodness! I swooned over this dress when I first saw it in the store. It is amazingly beautiful. The lace is gorgeous, and it is hard to see online, but there is this fabulous cut-out detail in the skirt. It is an incredible dress. BUT... For reference, I am usually 4 in Anthro dresses, sometimes a 2. I am 5'7, between 115-120 pounds, 34 B/C, slim and straight, with no hips. The store only had a 4 available the first time I saw this dress a week or two ago. The skirt is rather thick with a formed silhouette, and this size was too big in the rear area. I have been dreaming about this dress ever since, even though it is completely impractical for my lifestyle, and I don't know where I would ever wear it, and not to mention the price. But I was convinced that I need it anyway. You know the feeling... Well, I had a chance to visit the store again today, and there it was, my size 2. At first glance in the mirror, my fantasy lived on. The dress fit like a glove. However, as I moved around a bit and then tested out what would happen if I sat down....I noticed the skirt would bunch up and kind of stick out in a wierd way in the wrong places. I tried to get a good picture of this. Even if I ever had occasion to wear this dress, I feel like I would probably be tugging at it all night to smooth out the skirt. As I mentioned, the next size up wasn't really a good fit for me either. So, fortunately, due to the fit issues, I no longer feel compelled to buy this dress! Of course, it might be perfect for someone else's body type, so I would still highly recommend it, but try on first if you can! January 30, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Luscious feminine vintage appeal. Very curvy. This is a really beautiful dress. Unusual and distinctive with its combination of design and pencil silhouette. Totally feminine. If you are curvy, beware, as it adds a lot more to the action. I loved it, but sadly not for me. I have rear, and boy, howdy, did it rear. It was just a little too much of a good thing. Sooo, if you want to add some curves then this is the one for you. January 30, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by This dress is a real piece of (art)work The contrasting colors and fabrics on the top and bottom of the dress are exquisite and should be on display in a gallery somewhere, as is the case with most of Byron Lars' designs. That said, the top and bottom of this dress are also two different fits. I tried my regular size 2 and I tried the 4. The skirt portion of the 2 clung to me for dear life. I was going to include a back shot of the dress, but decided against it for censorship reasons. In the pic, I?m wearing the 4. The bottom half was a much better fit (not exactly modest, but at least I could walk and bend without causing a crowd commotion), but the top portion was noticeably looser; and my body?s a tad bigger on top than on the bottom so this really threw me. If I had to get this I would go with the 4 and have the top portion taken in about an inch. Otherwise, I?d have to lose 5lbs to fit comfortably in the 2 or gain 5lbs to fit comfortably in the 4. If neither of those things happen in the next few weeks, I will cross my fingers for a first cut; I wouldn?t pay regular price for this AND have to pay for alterations. Bottom line, this is a gorgeous, well-made dress that could be very flattering in the right size. March 18, 2014
