Rated 3 out of 5 by nursecatty LOOKS GREAT ON MODEL BUT....
I love the concept and design. It is definitely intricate and great quality but too busy for me. I bought a size 8. I weigh 140 and height is 5'6. Unfortunately when I put it on ,which took awhile with all the buttons, I looked like a big balloon wrapped in a curtain or black tapestry. The fabric is thick and makes you look thicker than you are....I didn't know black could do that!! It was also slightly longer than in the pic for me at least. It wasn't worth the price for me so I returned it. Maybe it would be better with different fabric.

Rated 3 out of 5 by runnergirl26 Beautiful in theory, mediocre in execution
The overall construction of this dress is high quality. I am very curvy, and was pleasantly surprised at how well the garment hugged my curves and still fit in the waist. However, the fabric is so stiff that any movement at all causes the dress to bubble and pucker in a totally unflattering way. The collar was also a little too theatrical in real life. If this dress were $100 or less, I might have kept it, but $600 is far too pricey for a mediocre garment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BBUSR Scarlett O'Hara looked better in a curtain
Those of you who are fans of the movie Gone with the Wind will surely understand the reference of my review title. For those of you who are not familiar, in short, Scarlet O'Hara was the heiress of a once impressive fortune in the South, but who lost everything after the Civil War. When she needs to ask Rhett Butler/Clark Gable for money to save her property she has a sumptuous dress made from the only thing that wasn't looted from her mansion after the war: the thick, tasseled, green velvet drapes. She looked STUNNING (she got the money, and the guy too - for a while, at least).
This dress from Anthro, is not sumptuous. I saw it in the store and and thought this was going to be one of the more upscale and classy (and adult) pieces and I had to try it on. As soon as I took it off the hanger I noticed that the fabric was, um, substantial. It was heavy and had no give, and it was a bit awkward to put on. I somehow had this illusion that it was going to make me look very "Breakfast at Tiffany's", but alas, it was more like something "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark" would wear if she had to go to the DMV.
As reference, I am 5'7", 34-26-34, 126lbs and typically take a size 4. It's not that this wasn't true to size, but rather not true to FIT. It was a bit constricting and didn't allow for any fluid movements.
As the other reviewers have mentioned, the idea is a good one, but somehow someone failed on execution. Oh! And I agree with the reviewers that said that even though the dress is black, it certainly is NOT minimizing, and could easily make you look 10-15lbs heavier than you really are. And who needs that?!?
