I walked into my local Anthro today looking for a dress to wear to a friend's upcoming fall wedding. This dress caught my eye immediately- first off, it's not black as the description states but a gorgeous slate grey color with cream embroidery. I am 5'5, 145 lbs and hourglass/ curvy. The size 8 fit but I ultimately purchased the 10. The dress, as previously stated, is fitted in the top and I found the 8 to be a little too low cut and open/ revealing for my taste (36 C). The dress is lined and the overall quality is excellent. I found the embroidery stiff- it didn't bother me but I could see how someone might find it slightly bothersome. The fitted empire waist and side zipper emphasize the most narrow part of my figure which I like, then the off center splint in the front allows the dress to flare out at the hem so your hips and bottom do not seem overly emphasized. For me, the ultimate design feature was the break in the back of the dress. In my case it made my bottom look smaller. I rarely stand perfectly straight and when you move in the dress, the back feature only becomes more flattering and appealing. I definitely agree that overall, from the front, the dress is a little matronly but I think with the right accessories it transitions into more of the vintage chic category. Side note: the girl who checked me out was wafer thin and said she had just bought the dress and found it to be very flattering on her body type as well. Hopefully it's a win for all shapes! Definitely give this dress a try!

by Carlyekat Lovely Details Looks Great with Curves
I bought this dress to wear to a friend's wedding. I was initially drawn to the dress because of the gorgeous embroidery detailing, it was not until I tried it on that I noticed the super cute hem in the back. I will have to respectfully disagree with the ladies that said that this dress is not made for ladies with curves. I felt that the dress accentuated my curves while hiding any potential flaws (little tummy pooch). For reference I wear a 34C bra, and have a 29 inch waist, with 38 inch hips. I spent the whole night dancing in the dress and although the it is lower cut in the bust/backside it stayed in place never making me look less than classy. I gave the 4 star rating for the dress because it is made of polyester, but I think the fact the it can be machine washed on gentle cycle makes up for the less than ideal material. I received numerous compliments on my dress, and am looking forward to wearing it again. <3

I found the dress in the store and decided to try it on despite my usual aversion to empire waist styles. I love the fit, the unusual color and the neat hem detail on the back hemline. I read the other reviews abou the top being too small for those with an ...ahem.... Larger bust but I disagree. I am 5'8, 140 lbs, size 6, a 36C and did not think it tight or too low cut, and I am a modest dresser at 48 years old. I didnt think the fabric cheap...it is a polyester chiffon and flows without over fullness. I am going to wear this to a rehearsal dinner in December.
