Rated 5 out of 5 by He can hang right-side up or upside down It really depends on your preference as to which way you hang him, but I know of several species of woodpeckers in particular that will hang upside down when foraging for food in a tree hole. My grandmother thought he was absolutely adorable and loved that I had him hanging upside down. I really love that this is a very well made piece and stands up to the humidity and rather unpredictable Florida weather. It's heavy enough to stay put in bad storms (I've had issues with other doorknockers knocking when the wind really picks up) and I adore the attention to detail. It's been hanging on my door for the past several months and I've seen no issue with quality or wearing. Well worth the money! February 27, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Most quaint thing on my new house!! I live in Northern Michigan where the mailman still comes to the door and this little woodpecker gets a lot of use. Very well made. When attached to the door frame, the sound is loud enough that I can hear it throughout the entire house, much nicer sound than a doorbell. Many people have made comments on how cute he is. Do yourself a favor and get one, you wont regret having something a little unique and old fashioned. March 8, 2014
