Patchwork Lace Pencil Dress

Rated 5 out of 5 by Special occasion dress. I feel glad I took a risk and despite a negative previous review got this dress anyway. It is EXACTLY as pictured on the photo: dark navy lace over light peachy pink with beige tint. The floral design in both colors matches online represantation perfectly and the craftsmanship is good. The dress is somewhat short, but with opaque tights or spandex leggings and knee-high boots it can be worn even in winter. It does fit snugly. I ordered size 14 and it fits me perfectly all over, as if the dress were tailored for me. Long earrings goes great with it. I espesially like how this dress looks in the back - it has sliming visual effect due to special lace placement. November 21, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Nice thought but poor execution This dress looks great online, but in person the fabric and quality is really lacking (surprising for Som pieces). Runs very small and ends up looking a bit cheap. Prefer the carissima lace sheath over this! November 5, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Beautiful on the model, but not on me. Oh, how I wanted to love this dress! I thought that it would accentuate my hourglass figure. I have an adorable shell from another retailer that is similar in style. I get tons of compliments on the shell when I wear it, so I snapped up this dress at full price. When I got the dress, I steamed it out and tried it on. The lace crossing and darkening in the front diamond area was not slimming at all. The positioning of the lace overlay seems somewhat off. Even though I ordered up a size as suggested, the dress still seems ill positioned and very snug - and lace is not very forgiving. I didn't feel like the dress accentuated my waist as much as the design suggests it should, and it made my bust look and feel a bit awkward. This dress is beautiful on the model, but for me, it was not. I usually wear a size 10 or 12, and I sprung for the 14 to make sure that I would have ample room because of the materials used (lace). I know that lace is not very forgiving. I do feel that I have broad shoulders and I am pretty busty. I also wanted to make sure I had ample arm movement with the lace sleeves in place. Because of all this, I had no problem going up to a size 14. However, even though I went up two potential sizes higher than what is usually needed, it still wasn't enough to save the dress for me. It had to go back. If you have a different body type, it is possible that the dress will be a better fit. Maybe a straight and slender body type, or an athletic body type is the best fit for this dress. In those body types, it is possible that the dress will give the illusion of curves rather than highlight the ones that are already there. By the way - that lace overlay is navy, not black. Just an FYI if you can't tell from the picture. January 8, 2014
