We purchased this for our baby-to-be's modern woodland themed room. I love that the animal silhouettes are not apparent at first glance, as we are going for a more chic look to the room that she can grow into as she gets older.
Our room is mostly shades of yellow and grey, so I thought this rug would be perfect. The picture shows the foliage to be in a dark grey, with lighter grey accents for the animals (at least, that's how it appears on my computer screen). In fact, the "greys" are blues. The darker shade of blue is also significantly lighter in reality. It's lighter than a deep navy, but darker than a royal blue. The colors kind of throw off the scheme of our room a smidge, but I don't dislike it so much that I would return it. The yellow designs in the background, thankfully, match the color and design of the curtains we purchased (mustard yellow "Coqo" curtains, also from Anthro), so the look at least, appears intentional.
I do love that this rug is different from the myriad boring rugs that are in department stores and all kind of look the same after a while. I also didn't want something from one of the children and baby furniture stores that looked super cartoony or babyish. This rug is a perfect compromise-- unique and whimsical without being corny.
The rug itself is plush and appears to be of good quality. We've only had it sitting out for a couple of days, but I haven't noticed any pilling or shedding. All rugs need a rug pad for preventing slipping, as this one will. A thick, plush rug pad for comfort isn't necessary for this rug, as it is spongy enough as it is.
It isn't advertised on Anthropologie's description, but this rug is made in India.
Nice rugs are expensive. The sale price of this rug, while not cheap, is fair. I was also able to order it with an additional 20% promotional discount for home essentials, which made it a little easier to digest the cost.
