Rated 5 out of 5Â by AnthroEm lovely blouse
First of all, this blouse is by HD IN PARIS, not Vanessa Virginia. I love all of HD in Paris's blouses (and how often do you find a brand named after a modernist poet??)-- this one is no exception. It flows beautifully, the fabric is not at all see-through, and the yellow print has a lovely vintage feel. I am usually an 8 in blouses by this brand, but I sized down to a 6 to get a slightly more fitted look. The weight of the fabric is absolutely perfect; I'm grateful it's not silk, because it saves me a trip to the dry cleaner! After machine-washing, the top dries without a wrinkle-- no ironing necessary. Perfection!

As a busty gal, I usually have an aversion to anything that is not perfectly fitted to my body. But there was something about this shirt that made me pull out my credit card and charge it without a second thought.
As other reviewers have mentioned, this shirt definitely treads on the Murder She Wrote side. But pair it with a lightly colored statement necklace, and you'll be in the Golden Girl winner's circle.
Skinny jeans are a must to balance out the boxy shape. This is a gorgeous piece and I find the darker color somewhat slimming.
As others have mentioned you can size down to get less of a boxy feel, but the arm section is fitted proportionally.

In person, this top is a bit sheerer than in the photos, so that makes it a slightly lighter color. IT is also a bit boxier. The only tailored area of the top is the two bust darts that can be seen in the photos. Otherwise, it's pretty body.
I think the best way to describe this top is that it walks a line very close to being matronly. The fabric isn't soft, it's a stiffer crepe and looks cheap. There were a lot of errant threads on the hems of the three sizes I tried on, so it didn't seem to be a well made top.
Personally, it did me no favors when I tried it on. But I usually write reviews here that find something good for other body types, too. I am not sure what that would be in this top. I'm sure that if you wore it styled like the photos, it might be very cute. But I also think the photos must have some of the fabric pinned back behind the model because the boxy factor doesn't show up like it looks in person.
Bottom line: So many cuter tops out there.
