Rated 2 out of 5 by Beautiful Design, Bad Fit I loved the design of this bra, it seemed like there would be a lot of support because of the corset-like design. When I tried it on, it lifted really well, but the actual cups of the bra were really flimsy. I felt like there was no support in the cups, and the shape also really separates your girls rather than creating cleavage. So I am returning it, sadly. I am a 34D, and I think this bra would work better on smaller sizes. November 2, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by great bra for larger sizes I had to try three sizes in this bra before I got the right one, but I'm glad I did. I typically wear a 34D and have challenges with strapless bras. Either they have no support and tend to slip down, or they are so tight through the band that they give me a backache. I have a wide ribcage, so the fact that this bra fastened below it was very appealing. Since some strapless bras run big, I tried a 34C, 32D and 34D, and ended up getting the 32D. I would say the cups in these bras run true ot size, not large like some strapless bras. If you think the cups seem too close together, going up a cup size should help. I ended up going with the 32 rather than the 34 band because I felt like it gave me more support, and because I'm much narrower at the waist than through my ribcage, where most bras fasten. The feel of the bra did take e a bit of getting used to, since the back is very low and the support comes from underneath, not at the sides. It feels like I'm 'floating' above the band, but in reality there is no slipping or jiggling, and the pads in the lower cups create nice cleavage. It also has a slimming effect through the upper body and waist,a nice added benefit. This bra is expensive, but Anthro actually has a better price than most online retailers I checked. I'm looking at this as an investment that I"ll be able to use for many years to come. November 10, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excuse me, but they are actually over here... Finding a good sized and comfortable corset type bra is not easy, that's why I was willing to pay full price for this number. Bellow is a breakdown of my personal experience: 1) Materials: The materials are nice, the back is really minimal compared to the front and very elegantly cut. The fabric in the front and back are also not the same: the front is an opaque stretch material, while the back is sheer (but not too much). The cups are soft and malleable, so they won't show through clothing, but on the other side, if you need extra support in the cups, all you will get it from would be the under-wires and not the material of the cups themselves. 2) Workmanship: I would say the workmanship was adequate: Not fantastic, not horrible. Maybe would have expected a little more given the price point... but anyway, it's not a bra I will wear everyday, so that's OK. 3) Sizing: I ordered the 34B, which is my usual size and never have been having problems in that front. But boy, this did not work for me. It was not so much the circumference: I could fasten the bra well. The cups were just oddly placed and too much to the front: the underwires didn't incorporate the full breasts- my actual breasts continue farther to the side, but the underwire defines the cup to be a little more towards the front. Yes they were digging in a bit where they shouldn't have and it was kind of painful. (hence title of the review). I am going to go out on a limb here and re-order one size up. But I am not sure if this is just a sizing issue or just the design does not fit my body type. Again I have always ordered this size with no issue (e.g. I'm 34B in Calvin Klein's) 4) "Extra" features: There are anti-slip silicone strips all over the top section and that helps the bra stay in place very well. A set of padding inserts were sewn at the bottom of the cups in my version (not sure if it the case for larger sizes or not). They were not removable. The hardware on the straps is silver metal not plastic and not painted metal. The upside is that it won't break easily, the down side is that if you are allergic to some metals - like myself, you might want to avoid wearing the straps for an extended period of time.
