Rated 3 out of 5 by Inner ballerina... I walked into my local Anthro, saw this skirt and bought it on the spot. I never do this, but that's how much I LOVE tulle. I must have been a ballerina in a former life, because I have tulle on the brain. Upon trying it on at home (because I didn't try it on at the store-what was I thinking???), my joy turned to sadness :( The style is meant for very tall, very skinny-with no-hips girls. That's it. There's no way around this. If you have hips at all-for get about it. I looked like a ginormous marshmallow. The 4 I purchased fit TTS. The quality and ivory color are lovely, but, alas, with a girly body this just didn't work. November 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Adorbs! I swear I only went to the Anthro site to shop for a basic black skirt for work, but ended up ordering this skirt within 6 seconds when it came up on the homepage. Then I read the reviews about poofiness and hips and sweated (not literally of course) for 3 days worried that I’d look like a marshmallow. So, if you’re reading this before ordering, smart girl! Now stop, and order it immediately. You’ll not be sorry. The box came, and it was as much love at first sight in person as on the computer screen. It’s lovely. Not too poofy in the hips at all for me. I am almost 6 feet tall but I’m not without hips (29 or so waist, 39 hips, size 8 = perfect). I found the drape to be really perfect, in fact. Length – I have long legs but it covers my knees completely (good). Fits at the natural waist. The underskirt and waistband are white; the tulle itself is a candlelight-ivory. Did not find it to be see-through. As for the comments that it’s only for the young – um, can't agree with that. I used my birthday (44th) coupon for the purchase. They can wheel me to the Home in it. November 11, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by I would love it, if I tried this skirt in store after contemplating it for a few weeks now. I love anything ballerina style, and I loved this skirt...until I tried it on. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous skirt, but as someone before me has noted, it's fitted only for a select few, very select few. First, you must be super tall to be able to wear this. The model in the picture must be around 6", because while it hits her almost at the knee, when I, at 5'4" tried it on, it was way below my calf. I could look past the length, but adding to the length is the poof, which doesn't work together for someone shorter. It poofs out mercilessly, I counted there were 5 or 6 layers of tulle, plus the lining. Now I am very thin, I tried the skirt in a 0 and while it fit perfectly in the waist, it was just too much. overall; overpowering, which for a ballerina skirt is the exact opposite of it's light and delicate design and style intention. Another thing is the cost. It's nylon and polyester! if the tulle was made out of silk, I could understand the $188 price, but nylon tulle runs for about $3.00 per yard, polyester is not more expensive so that's just outrageous. On the other hand, the craftsmanship looks great. One last thing is purpose. Again gorgeous skirt, but an occasion skirt nonetheless, wedding, etc....unless it was shorter and didn't poof out as much, then I can see more possibilities for this skirt for more frequent occasions such as dinner, or a less formal party. Yearning to design for the daydreamers and wanderers among us, Alexandra Grecco founded her eponymous line in 2010. This Anthropologie-exclusive collection was inspired by a weekend trip during which she was immersed in nature. Inspired by its every facet, from a found cicada wing to fields of pale green grass to a sky full of stars, Grecco channeled the sights and experiences into the beautiful clothing you see here. This hazy tulle midi is layered over matte satin lining; wear it high on the waist to every holiday party.
