Smocked Corset Blouse

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Unique riff on a classic I had been eyeing this blouse for a while, but the price and lack of reviews made me hesitant. So when it went on sale AND I got my birthday coupon, I decided to go for it ... and I'm glad I did. This blouse is fabulous. I'm not normally a button-down shirt kinda girl. I tend to like tops that I don't have to tuck in, yet still flatter my waist (I'm an hourglass shape). This is so appealing because, of course, it cinches at the waist and you don't tuck it in. The waist really is kinda like a corset. When I first tried it on, I was worried it would be too tight for my waist... it looked very restricting. But once I started fastening the buttons and the hidden hooks, it worked and is actually more comfortable than I expected! The cotton fabric of the shirt seems to be good quality, but it's not super thick. You will want to wear a nude bra to prevent show-through. The darts at the bust allow for more ample bosoms, which leads me to another point: I think sizing for this top might be tricky. It does seem to run just a tad bit large. I'm between a 6 and an 8 in tops. I have an ample chest and a small waist, and I got a good fit with the 6. However, if you don't have a small waist and tummy area, I think this top could still work (and still be flattering), but you might want to size up. The corset construction could flatter lots of body types and make them look luscious! In other words, don't shy away from this because of the waist/tummy. The overall design is great. I really like the asymmetry of the buttons. The collar and cap sleeves are nice too. The silhouette of the blouse is romantic and feminine, but the other details give it a chic & futuristic edge. I hope this review helps someone out there. :) April 17, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by It really has a corset I have to agree with the reviewer who noted the strange corset lining underneath the smocking. It's like an ace bandage around your waist. I can't imagine wearing this blouse in the summer, despite the cap sleeves and very light fabric. Sizing is looser than most other Anthro tops - I am usually somewhere between an 8 and a 10 (I'm 5' 8" and 140 pounds), and this 8 fits my waist but has lots of room in the bosom. April 29, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice blouse but needs tailoring I really liked the style of this blouse, and the corseting is flattering around the waist. The issue I have with this blouse is the extremely large upper portion of the shirt. I really think it was made with tailoring in mind, so that it could accomodate a larger bust but could be tailored for a smaller bust. As I am smaller up top I will need to get this tailored. It is very roomy. But overall a nice blouse and I think once I have it altered it will work well. The lower corseted portion I thought was fairly true to size. April 26, 2013
