I had previously purchased the Hyphen Distressed jeans from Pilcro in the store and loved the fit, but I wanted to also have a pair of darker, not-so-distressed jeans, so I thought these would be perfect. After reading the reviews about this being a skinny jean, I almost didn't order these. I have large thighs, so unless I'm buying relaxed or boyfriend jeans, I have to size up to get anything to fit, resulting in the awful back gap at the waist and too long inseams.
I'm glad I ignored the reviews, because they fit just like the other Hyphens I have - perfect. They are relaxed without being huge, as many of the boyfriend styles are, which means they actually fit me through the thighs and hips and aren't super baggy. For someone without my large hips/thighs these would be the perfect slightly relaxed look. I normally wear a size 32 in skinny or straight style jeans, a size 31 in relaxed jeans, but in this style of Pilcro I wear a 30. I've noticed most of Pilcro's jeans stretch almost immediately after putting them on, requiring that you size down one size.

I've been looking for a pair of boyfriend type jeans for some time, but being short haven't had much luck finding one that fit correctly let alone flattered. When these Pilcros popped up, and especially in the absence of an AG option, they became a must try for me.
I ordered these in my usual petite denim size and found them to run true to size. They fit as shown in the catalog shot, so aren't exactly a slouchy cut. They do have a slightly higher rise and fit a little more squarely in the waist/hip area, reminding me a tiny bit of the Levi's from a couple of decades ago (not a bad thing really). The legs are also cut pretty straight. I would say these Hyphens are more boy fit than boyfriend fit. They're pretty cute, nevertheless. I think I may have to keep them.
The fabric is mid-weight and is hopefully sturdy enough to contain the little scrape holes in the thigh and knee. I'd hate to have an accident while kneeling down or scaling stairs. My one other small reservation is the back view could be better. I always find Pilcro jeans to look better from the front than back. Maybe it's just me? Keep tinkering with pocket shape, size and placement for the optimal rear, Pilcro!
Lastly, I'd like to point out the inseam length on the petite jeans is actually 28" unrolled. Only when cuffed with a wide cuff as pictured, does the inseam measure 23.5". But the jeans look good worn either way.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Rowan Fit great, but heavy for summer heat
I love these jeans on. They fit TTS (I am a 29 or Size 8 in pants) with a 36-29-38 measurement. I put on the 29's and they were perfect. They look very nice on, but my only reservation, and the reason I passed on them, is that I am in search of a "summerweight" denim. These are mid-weight, and soft, but in 90 degree heat they'd not be my go-to cropped jean. If you don't mind the heavier fabric, then this is your jean! My search continues......
