Rated 4 out of 5 by lovely & versatille I found this to be a comfortable, elegant dress with just a touch of retro and a touch of sexiness. The material is a lightweight silk crepe-de-chine, which has a slight luster (as the photo shows). The luster is beautiful, but it also highlights shadows and curves, so the drape of this dress will probably work best with someone either wearing spanx, or with a lean line from the empire waist to the ground. Given that this dress needs to drape, I think it could have used a heavier weight silk. It comes wrinkled, and I'm not that the dress is "heavy" enough for the wrinkles to fall out without ironing. It is "lined" all the way through--on the bust portion, the lining is the silk used in the bottom bottom. On the bottom, it is navy acetate. The lace and the sleeves look a bit delicate, but I think as long as I am careful putting this on and taking it off, it should be fine. I actually found the fit to be pretty flattering for an hourglass figure (34-23-34). It isn't skin-tight by any means, but the bias cut means that the dress tends to follow curves rather than obscure them. I bought at 0, which fits reasonably well--but I probably would have gone with a 2 had I tried this on in stores. The waist and hips fit, but the bust is a bit tight. Since this dress has a large keyhole, it's still comfortable--but the "keyhole" is a bit larger than what I would have otherwise preferred. I'm 5'1, and this would definitely have to be altered--probably by 4 inches, at least--since I plan to wear this with flats. I'd probably wear a slip or camisole underneath when I wear this for teaching--otherwise the keyhole definitely shows the front of my bra, even though the necktie does cover up most of the cleavage. Rated 3 out of 5 by Not shown well It is a thin fabric and has no body. The front tie opening goes all the way to empire, which is quite gaping and the photos or description do not mention, for this quality of fabric I wouldn't buy it except on clearance! February 8, 2013

When Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein met as young fashion-industry interns in New York, they quickly bonded over mutual loves of history, travel and dressing up. Their collection for us, Vessel by Timo, was inspired by style icon Loulou De La Falaise. Here, they use fabric to colorblock, combining lace, chiffon and a bias-cut charmeuse skirt into an easy take on a fancy gown.
