These rolling pins are so beautiful; I had to pick one up for my mom. I actually ended up using it before her, to make pastry for a tarte, and no matter what I tried, the dough stuck. When my mom, who is a master baker, got home and tried it for herself, the same thing happened to her. She was making pie crust. Perhaps it is different for cookies or other foods, but unfortunately right now all it is a very pretty display piece that is not displayed (because who displays their rolling pins???).

While beautifully decorated and a great aesthetic addition to any kitchen, it doesn't serve its purpose as a rolling pin. The glaze prevents the pin from holding any flour when trying to roll out sticky dough, making it impossible to roll it out without the dough sticking all over it. I'll be going back to a less pretty, but reliable, wooden rolling pin.

This is a beautiful rolling pin, but for practicality it is probably not what you want. It is wobbly and wouldn't actually roll dough evenly or smoothly, which is disappointing if you are a serious baker. However, as a prop in the kitchen, sweet little piece.
