I missed out on last year's version of this coat, that had the horses on it. I have to say I love this one even more, I adore the birds and I find the navy goes with so much. I am usually a 4 or 6 and I actually sized up to a medium in this coat, I found the sleeves a tad short in the small and the pockets pulled slightly. I love this coat open, more than tied closed. I never pay full price for anything, but I loved this piece so much I took the plunge. It is a really special coat I feel I will have forever.

I purchased this after MUCH consideration. Fits true to size (I am 5'7 130 lbs, athletic build, bought a small, medium was too big). You can see a little bit of grey from the birds along a few of the seams, so this had a more rustic than polished feel. I had read other reviews and needed to figure out how to get over the "robe" look. I found a few ways and they have made this sweater jacket SO much more versatile (I wear it almost every day).
Wear with a non-tie type belt. I think the Gregory Cactus Lime or Hibiscus leather belts would look awesome because they too are a little "raw."
Add a pin as seen on the last photo (not a fan of that one personally). I think a bright felted flower would look cool, like one of these from etsy:

After reading the positive reviews online, I went looking for this item in store. I usually stay away from wool sweaters because I find them itchy, but this is amazingly soft for wool. It would've been nice if the pocket lining was stitched to the coat so that it provided pockets on the inside of the coat as well, but I suppose you really couldn't fill the pockets too much or it would pull on the coat. The hood looks silly up, but it is nice to have if it's cold or windy out. I typically wear large or extra-large in most items, size 12 or 14, 42-37-43, am short-waisted with long arms and legs for my height (5'-3.75"), and I bought the Large. The sleeves hit the middle of my thumbs so I would say if you are truly petite, the sleeves will need to be rolled up, but the coat still looks fine with the sleeves rolled up a bit. The waist tie could've been higher for me, but I am short in the torso, and it would cost too much to order a petite online with customs, duty & shipping on top of it. I probably could have easily sized down to a medium, but the large would give me the option of wearing a thick sweater inside if I wanted to, and extend seasonal wear. The sales associate told me that most staff members had purchased the coat last year when it was sold with a horse print. It is a great sweater-coat because it seems to be well made, feels great on, is flattering in shape, and I think it will be very versatile and wearable.
