Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Raw Silk Dress with Simple Classic Lines This is a stunning dress. I read the comments of other customers who gave it a low rating, and they seem to be disgruntled and uninformed about the silk material not being shiny and erroneously labeling it as cotton/linen, canvas, etc. The dress is indeed silk, as stated in the description. But, it is RAW SILK, thus giving it an au natural nubby look with a heavier weight. As a result, the dress hangs well and has muted elegance; it quietly speaks to you and doesn't yell like shiny silk. You can wear this fabulous dress casually or dressed up. Its classic lines and beautiful print make it stand out. I am 5? 8?, 149 pounds and the medium was perfect. I do not like tight clothing, so this worked great for me. July 27, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Abstract Painting I like that each dress is a unique piece of art. I was unaware what silk noil was like. It happens to be slightly rough in texture with no typical silky sheen. Sometimes it's referred to as "raw silk". On the other hand, I do find this fabric to be strong, opaque, and quite resistant to wrinkling. August 1, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Loose comfortable, artsy shift This dress is just what I thought it would be-- a loose beautifully painted dress with a matte cotton-like silk feel to it. If you like a more form-fitting silhouette, then you probably want to go a size smaller. One comment-- the ties to the obi belt are super long-- probably will have 6-8 inches cut off of each end, so I don't have to tie it so many times around the waist or in a bow with long ties dangling. Could use the leftover material for a hair tie of some sort! July 26, 2012

RED MOTIF Style #:25777814 A Made In Kind design.

The art collective Fort Makers revels in creating unconventional projects at their sunny Brooklyn studio. Here, textured silk noil is handpainted by artist Naomi Clark and cut into a slim, dolman-sleeved silhouette and wrapped with a matching obi sash; the simple shape allows her abstract-expressionistic brushstrokes to take center stage. No two are exactly alike.
