Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful cookbook from an Australian photographer Buttermilk crepes with citrus compote, Pearl barley salad with harissa-spiced chicken, Barbecued peppercorn beef fillet with chilli and herb gremolata... This beautiful book is packed with recipes I actually want to make. I've followed the blog What Katie Ate for some time and was so happy to hear Katie would release a cookbook. But it's the photography and design that really makes this book stand out. Katie herself designed it so it looks like an old book, some old-favourite you have always turned to. And turn to it I always will. There's a really cool vintage look to the photographs, and the food is not too neat and tidy - making everything seem really approachable. This gorgeous book won't be put away in the bookshelf any time soon. October 16, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by The most beautiful cookbook you will ever own! I have been an avid follower of Katie Quinn Davies' blog for the past couple of years, and was counting down the days until this book's release. Having bought myself a copy two weeks ago, I can say that it was truly worth the wait!! There are several favourite recipes from the blog included, as well as a huge number of new recipes - every one of them looks completely mouthwatering and delicious, and having made a few already, I can vouch for the fact that they taste just as good as they look in Katie's incredible photos. I can particularly recommend the fish pie (the best I've ever tasted!), the beef and Guinness pie and the roast chicken. I've also made a number of the salads featured in the book and on the blog, and all have turned out beautifully. I had never considered that a salad could be a meal in itself before I discovered Katie's blog, but she comes up with the most wonderful, inventive ways of making salads that are not only delicious, but very satisfying and hearty meals. Aside from the amazing recipes, this book is just breathtaking to behold. I read on her blog that Katie not only styled and shot every photo in the book, but designed the whole thing as well! There is such incredible attention to detail on every page, and something new to discover every time you flick through the pages. It's truly one of the most beautiful cookbooks I have ever seen. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves food and food photography, and think it would make the perfect Christmas gift for all foodies and lovers of beautiful books! October 15, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Timeless: beautiful photography, recipes Katie's way of writing is so natural, it feels like you're having a conversation with a friend when reading the recipe introductions. I don't know where to start with reviewing this book; the food photography is absolutely exceptional, the design is beautiful and the recipes themselves sound delicious. It definitely didn't disappoint after all the hype from her blog! Can't wait to work my way through all the recipes... the ones I've tried have been great and relatively easy to make ('retro beef curry' being a highlight!). October 14, 2012
