by asta17 I originally purchased this in the solid cotton version, but returned it due to some fit and fabric issues. I then stumbled across this version of the top and liked it much better. The polka dot version is navy with cream dots of different sizes, which is very cute but similar to many other things in my closet. The other version has blues, purples and pinks in an abstract pattern that I would characterize as "dark and stormy". It's important to note that pattern and color placement varies widely with this motif, as the first one I tried was very different than the product shot - mostly navy with a big chunk of pink off to one side in the middle of my stomach. Not too flattering, and kind of looked like I spilled bleach on the shirt. I asked the SA to see if there was another XS in the back, and she brought one that had much more purple and the design looked more intentional. The fit is perfect for my small frame (5'1, 32A, 105 lbs) - I have no critiques there. The top portion of the shirt is lined while the bottom isn't, though it's not sheer at all and is very comfortable. The peplum starts at just the right spot, and it's not nearly as exaggerated from the side as the cotton version of this top. I think it can be worn alone in the summer or layered really easily under a cardi or blazer in the fall (goes with navy, pink, purple, plum, cream and gray).

I purchased this top in store this past weekend, only in a navy polka-dot that isn't showing online yet. It is worth every single full price penny. For those with longer torsos though, I would highly recommend trying on in person. It will run shorter on those who are taller and long waisted. If you love vintage inspired pieces, you will love this top. It definitely has a vintage cut and will be perfect for curvy girls. I am typically a S/M, 36B, 30" waist and I took a M in this top. It fits as though it was tailored for me. It creates a very flattering appearance in the bust for me, and I think the sleeves are cut nicely without showing too much. No cleavage issues for me, either. I love the navy polka-dot print. The only thing I will say in regards to anything negative is the mesh material. I wish this were in a different material, even a nice cotton would probably have been better, but it is very well made, the seams are very nicely sewn and I see this lasting a very long time and being a mainstay in my closet. I hope everyone else loves it as much as I do!

Mesh clothing belongs at Forever 21. This is Anthropologie, for crying out loud. The mesh is nicer than I expected, to be fair -- a tightly woven mesh that actually feels silky and soft, not scratchy or cheap. BUT IT IS STILL MESH, and who wants to pay $60 for mesh? The colors (blues and purples) are gorgeous. The neckline is too high. The fit is clingy -- I am 5'6" and 100 lbs and the XS fit me properly, which probably means this top runs a bit small, but it has a lot of stretch. The length was perfect for me. I will reconsider if my size and preferred color make it to the sale rack, but I refuse to pay this much cash for MESH.
