by gardenia This was the dress I was most excited about in this month's catalog - it looked like a classic piece with a few quirky touches and I always love peter pan collars. I ordered the petite size during the free shipping promotion since petite sizes are sadly not available in stores. The taupe top on the navy isn't that obvious in the product shot so I'm including a side-by-side photo. Both colors are lovely, though the orange is a tad bright for me. Incidentally, for the items that I received, the orange ran slightly larger and about half an inch longer than the navy.
While I still love the design of the dress, I'm disappointed in the quality. Like others have mentioned, the polyester flows well but is super clingy. The buttonholes are not finished well, so they fray the first time you unbutton the dress. And this is completely unlined (wish Anthro would start listing a "sheer factor" like other clothing retailers!). At first I thought I hadn't pulled the lining down all the way but then I realized it was the pockets that were hanging loose on the inside (see photo).
On the plus side, the removable collar is both versatile and well executed (it's a row of buttons and these buttonholes do not fray), and I love the color contrast. The bra snaps are handy and the pockets are huge. This brand (Postmark I believe?) generally fits petites well. The armholes and bust on the 0P fit me well, and the dress came to a few inches above the knee, which felt on the short side for me (I'm 5'2") but matches the model shots. It did feel short-waisted but not quite empire so I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like, but I would like to try on the regular size for comparison.

This dress caught my eye in the store and I couldn't wait to give it a try. I love both colorways, but favored the orange more. I tried both my usual size 4 and a size 2. The 4 was a better fit because the 2 rode up too much for my long waist and was a little too short as well. However - this dress is made of a very thin polyester which is soft but quite sheer. The orange bottom was clinging to my legs and hips and my underwear showed through the dress. It is not lined but should be. This dress would certainly require a slip underneath, and since it is the heat of summer, I don't think this is a desired solution. In itself the dress is not that breathable, being polyester.
I think the abundance of polyester dresses on Anthro's website and in stores is very unfortunate! For these prices natural fibers should be used. I don't know who wants to spend this much money for a cheaply made dress that requires an additional layer to make it wearable, but I am not that customer.

This is the most beautiful, versatile dress ever. It fits lovely on top, then flows into a billowy, soft and vibrant skirt on the bottom. I have it in the orange and I'm just in love with it. Definitely worth every single penny. The fabric is divine and there are so many ways to dress it up or down! I am a fuller figured girl on the bottom (size 16 in pants) and the skirt flows over my curves SO WELL! Love it!
