I picked up a light Turkish Cotton beach towel in a cool little shop in Mykonos, Greece with my husband last month. I used it on the beaches there & loved how compactly it rolled up & fit in my bag. I even wore it as a scarf around my neck when we were riding around on 4 wheelers.... (a great way to carry it & fashionable too if you look at the previous reviews.) The thin-ness of it is great for travel... much less bulky to carry than terry cloth. I was so happy to find this towel at Anthro. Now my husband I can each have our own towel, I no longer have to share.

by roxy Better as a scarf than a beach towel
Thanks to the team at the Soho (NYC) Anthropologie, I saw the potential for this item to be a scarf rather than a beach towel. OK, so it's a big scarf that can easily double as a shawl or wrap. Which makes it perfect for a lightly windy day with a tee shirt and jeans. As a beach towel....I'm not so sure. The material is very thin and wouldn't do much to help me dry off after a dip. It also won't do much to protect from sand or grass o any material you might sit on. I normally think of beach towels as somewhat cushy. This is not. As a scarf, however, it's pretty awesome!

This doesn't perform well as a towel. It's not very absorbent and left me feeling damp after my shower. The thin material wrinkled a lot after washing and drying.
Maybe I'll give it a try as a scarf, as another reviewer mentioned.
