The Fairytales Of The Brothers Grimm

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Book! I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my 14 year old granddaughter. When it arrived, I was so drawn to it because of it's wonderful artwork that I put off wrapping it. I wanted to look at and read it for as long as I could! It had very interesting background information about the Grimms brothers, and the fairy tales are the same stories they related - not the "cleaned up" versions. And the important thing is that my granddaughter loved it, too! I recommend this book to anyone who has an appreciation for folk tales and beautiful presentation. This is a book that deserves to be treasured and cared for. It is not for young children, though. Some of the stories may be too scary for them. December 26, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is such a fantastic coffee table book. The illustrations are so detailed and brightly colored. Like the previous reviewer said, this is NOT the cleaned up versions we have grown so use to - they are the closest to the originals I have seen. Greatly recommended for any book lover! Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful images and kid friendly I love the Grimm fairytales, and these are the real ones. I also can't pass up looking at a Taschen book - the quality is unmatched. This book does not disappoint. The pages are nice and thick so they're kid friendly and will hopefully prevent significant tears. The illustrations are vibrant and large, and the text is large enough for children to read. A great book for any age. The cloth cover and bookmarks are extras that make the book seem even more special. Great price, particularly for a Taschen. I’ve given this book as a gift to two different people, and I’ve now bought one for our family. February 29, 2012
